Thursday 21st September : Arnhem - A bridge too far

On the 21st, we met Frits Janssen, a local 82nd Airborne historian for a tour of Arnhem.

We visited the museum Hartenstein, former headquarters of the British 1st Airborne Division.

We were enthralled with the film and presentations regarding the fierce fighting we have seen in the movie "A Bridge Too Far".
It brought to mind the gallant courage of all allied liberators in Operation Market Garden.

With a city guide, provided by the Remember September Foundation, we visited the British cemetary almost across the street from
the Hartenstein museum, and different buildings which were prominent in the movie.

Almost at the foot of the infamous bridge we saw the displays showing the devastation of the battle in the centre of Arnhem.

Dinner was enjoyed in a restaurant on the river overlooking the bridge.

One more memorable day.
