Sunday 24th September : US cemetary Henri Chapelle / Dutch apple pie
Leaving Bastogne on September 24th, to drive back up North, we stopped at the beautiful Henri
Chapelle cemetary in Belgium where thousands of American soldiers from the Battle of the Bulge are resting.
The superintendent of the cemetary gave an interesting and complete explanation.
Again, just like at Margraten we were in awe of the many crosses. At the same time, the beautiful site in
combination with the meticulate caretaking added to the peaceful and quiet atmosphere. We then returned to
Eindhoven where we stopped for Dutch apple pie and coffee with our friends of the Screaming Eagles of WWII Foundation.
We then said our goodbyes to Eindhoven, Son, Best and Veghel and headed to Amsterdam for our farewell
dinner at the airport hotel and our respective flights home the next day.
