Besides having lots of fun, the option
of attending the Static Line reunion by five members of the Foundation was to
promote both the Foundation
and Operation Torch 2008. In that, we believe we were succesful. Our good friends
Tim Redington and Richard Sterne, both participants on
Operation Torch 2007, flew into Atlanta to join us. We were happy to see these
former customers who became good friends.
It was great to meet up with old and new friends :

Traditionally, Saturday night is AIRBORNE AWARDS night

with General Petraeus being honored as Airborne Man of the Year - his attendance and speech were a real treat
As usual, the 82nd Airborne Division
Chorus gave a vocal concert. And, as usual, it was outstanding.

Fortunately, the Foundation was given the opportunity to recognise and thank the man who made it all possible with a Dutch memento. Thank you DON! f.l.t.r. Leoni Wenstedt (secretary), Frenk Derks Van de Ven (member), Joseph M. Bossi (Director of US Operations), Don Lassen (organiser Static Line), Petra Wenstedt-Pulles (president) and Frits Janssen (treasurer) |
After the banquet, it was time for
the Airborne Hop. Although this year unfortunately, almost no hopping was done
due to health problems. The promise was
made however, to make up for empty ballroom books next year, at the 32nd Static
Line Awards!
